Neuro_Revolution began with an open call for artists under 35 living in Italy. It opened on 2 September and ended on 13 October 2019.
The six artists (Camilla Alberti, Marco Antelmi, Leonardo Bentini, Luca Marcelli, Orecchie d’Asino, Valerio Veneruso) were selected by a jury composed of Francesca Lazzarini (director of AiR Trieste and project manager), Claudia Löffelholz (head of the School of high education FMAV), Marco Scotini (NABA Visual Arts Department Head), Gaia Tedone (curator), Marco Lorenzetti (director of MLZ Art Dep).
The project got underway with two intensive training days with the 6 selected artists. It took place on 14 and 15 November 2019 and comprised two parts: the first was dedicated to the study of artistic practices through panel discussions on the themes of the project; the second part focused on the same themes in a philosophical and scientific key.
From that date through the beginning of March 2020, the artists, structured in pairs, spent a one-month residency in Trieste. During this time, they attended several educational activities including: a workshop with a prominent artist or curator, meetings with scientists and neuroscientists confronting on the topics and methodologies of scientific research, visits to laboratories and research facilities, visits to places of interest of the city.
