Unfolding Desire
Laboratorio: Out of Order
by Ofri Cnaani
Friday 30 January, 4-5 pm, on Zoom
After an introduction to Unfolding Desire by the co-curator Francesca Lazzarini, Ofri Cnaani will present the artworks she realised for the project – the photographic series Mouth to Hand and the video Surviving Images – and the workshop through which those emerged. The artist will then introduce Out of Order, delving into its contents, methodology, and structure. The online session will also offer an opportunity for a quick round of presentations so participants can start introducing themselves and getting to know each other.
Monday 9 February, 2 pm, Centro di Documentazione, Padiglione M, Parco di San Giovanni, Trieste
Like the whole project, the workshop Out of Order approaches San Giovanni not only as a custodian of memory, but as a living, affective and sensorial place where dormant desires can be reactivated and transformed into collective practices of care, knowledge production, and resistance.
Ofri Cnaani will lead the group in experimenting with forms of engagement with the materials of the Centro di Documentazione. Participants will be encouraged to mobilise their own practices and skills to turn archival instances into desires for the future. They’ll be asked to actualise those transformations into audio or audio/visual contributions.
Thursday 12 February, 2 pm, Centro di Documentazione, Padiglione M, Parco di San Giovanni, Trieste
This session will be dedicated entirely to participants’ contributions. They will be shared in the group, collectively discussed, and prepared for the different presentations to come: the podcast, the video, and the project’s webpage.
Thursday 12 February, 5 pm, Radio Fragola, Padiglione M, Parco di San Giovanni, Trieste
Participants are invited to take an active role in the Unfolding Desire Podcast recording and present their contributions. The session at Radio Fragola will retrace and reactivate the meaningful phases of Unfolding Desire through all the voices of the project’s protagonists. In fact, the Laboratorio group will be joined in person by Escuchame’s artists Diego and Renzo Porporati, the performer Pavel Berdon, the composer Samuel Codarin, and the broadcaster Massimiliano Rosati, while co-curator Elham Puriya Mehr and artist Evan Siebens will connect from Canada.
